Orthopedic Surgery Aftercare
Our pre surgery consultation is a hands on educational session on how to best care for your dog after a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) or Extracapsular repair (also know as: lateral suture stabilization).
You will learn

How and when to apply cold or ice packs.

How and when to use heat.

What is normal and when to check in with your Veterinarian.

Correct technique for passive range of motion and why it's important.

What a TPLO or Extracapsular repair is.

Tips on how to manage your dog in your home environment after surgery.

What your dog should and shouldn't be doing.
Our goal is to give you the knowledge to be confident in your first two weeks of home care and to give your dog the most comfortable and successful recovery possible.
If you would like to be prepared in advance for your pets aftercare, we do require a referral from your Veterinarian.
Let your Veterinarian know you would like to participate and we will gladly contact them to answer any questions and send them a referral form.
Uxbridge Veterinary Hospital
Our Surgeon approved consultation is available at Uxbridge Veterinary Hospital (UVH).
This consult is included (no additional charge) for existing UVH clients who have an upcoming ACL stabilization surgery scheduled.
Each session is held in a private pre-sanitized room. At this time only the main post operative caregiver is able to attend indoors. If your pet has multiple caregivers we will do our best weather permitting, to arrange for an outdoor session.

Meet Pepper
Pepper is Vanessa's personally owned dog. Pepper underwent TPLO surgery in October 2020 and documented her journey through recovery. As a result Pepper became the star model in our instructional materials.
